The more widespread use of antigen testing is being mooted as a potentially key player in the return to normality as well as a vital component in the fight against Covid-19.

Last week, the HSE introduced antigen testing in hospitals, while hauliers heading to France are antigen tested prior to crossing the border.

David Nabarro from the World Health Organisation says the tests could benefit the economy, the health service and mass gatherings.
