Welcome to another episode of Ours To Protect, as we take a closer look at biodiversity and sustainability in Co Clare.

In this episode, Pat Flynn visits Corofin to meet two members of the local tidy towns group which like many these days, are involved in more than just ensuring their local area looks well.

Many groups are now expanding their remits to include Biodiversity and Corofin Tidy Towns is one such group.

There are a number of positive bio-diverse projects and programmes already in place in Corofin.

Joe O’Connell and James Organ are members of Corofin Tidy Towns group.

Tips/Notes:

* Corofin Tidy Towns group aims to further develop partnerships for bio-diversity between national schools and North Clare Agricultural Show Association.

* The group promotes a of ‘no spray’ in relation to pesticides and herbicides as well as a ‘reduced cutting regime’ of selected green areas

* Volunteers have also erected interactive signs at key sites, all related to local biodiversity.

* Corofin Tidy Towns also promotes and encourages biodiverse activities amongst the public through annual community events.
