Welcome to another episode of Ours To Protect, as we take a closer look at biodiversity and sustainability in Co Clare.

 

Clare County Council has published its Draft Climate Action Plan 2024-2029, as local authorities are required, under the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Act 2021.

The draft plan aims to position County Clare as a national leader in climate action and strengthen the delivery of effective action at local and community levels.

Morgan Lahiffe, is Climate Action Co-ordinator with Clare County Council. He first told Pat Flynn what his job entails.

 

Tips:

* Local Authorities have a key role in the delivery of both climate mitigation and adaptation. Under the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Act 2021, local authorities are required to publish Climate Action Plans.

* The public has a huge part to play in ensuring the success of their local plan.

* Clear target setting with deadlines and assigned responsibilities combined with regular review and adjustment is essential to achieve goals.

* Everyone has a part to play in climate change and the public is encouraged to engage and share their views on their local Climate Action Plan.
