Le Chéile was first broadcast in May 2020 as the global pandemic had begun to grip the county and country.

There was a niche for a dedicated programme for the many who had to self-isolate and was particularly popular with those confined to their homes and residents of hospitals and care homes.

The popular request show continues to provide music and information for those still coping with the pandemic and has been a way for people overseas to reach out ot relatives at home they haven’t seen in some time.
