Young child airlifted to hospital from Ennis after suffering burns

A young child has been airlifted to hospital after suffering burns this afternoon.

Its understood the accident happened in west Clare at around 5.00pm.

The child was rushed by ambulance to the Fairgreen in Ennis where the Shannon based Irish Coast Guard helicopter was waiting.

Gardaí had secured a landing site for the helicopter ahead of the ambulance’s arrival. Ennis fire service also provided assistance.

An ambulance and advanced paramedic unit arrived at the Fairgreen at around 6.30pm and the child was transferred to the helicopter.

The child has been airlifted to University Hospital Galway for treatment.
