Wynne Condemns “Chaotic” Govt Messaging As Vaccine Plan To Be Approved Today

Clare’s Sinn Féin TD is labelling the government’s messaging on the decision to delay the resumption of indoor dining at ‘chaotic’, in the wake of revelations that NPHETS modelling of the spread of the Delta variant didn’t incorporate new modifications to the vaccine rollout.

It comes as the Health Minister’s expected to sign off on a plan today that will accelerate the Covid-19 vaccination programme by several weeks, following a HSE proposal to administer the AstraZeneca and Johnson and Johnson vaccines to under-50s.

The official advice from NIAC is under 50’s should get an mRNA vaccine such as Pfizer where possible, however 18 to 34 year olds who want an earlier vaccination will be able to get the one-shot Johnson and Johnson in a local pharmacy.

The Deputy Chief Medical Officer says this doesn’t change the recommendation to delay indoor dining.

Kilrush Deputy Violet-Anne Wynne says confusion within government over data which led to the call to defer indoor hospitality is now leading to pandemonium within the hospitality sector.
