World Leading Technology Firm To Open Manufacturing Plant In Shannon

A world leading Technology firm looks set to bring a major jobs boost to Clare.

Galway based Mbryonics has announced it will lease a 40,000 square foot facility in the Shannon Airport Industrial Estate.

The company, which was founded in Galway in 2014 specialises in photonic satellite communications hardware, software and technology, and currently employs 100 people.

Mbryonics will be boosting its headcount in Galway over the next two years as the firm has opened a new manufacturing facility named ‘Photon – 1’ in Dangan, which will create a further 125 jobs.

The firm says the plant represents a “major step forward in its mission to deliver the internet in space” and will enable the production of 500 units of its flagship communications product ‘Starcom’ every year.

As part of plans to upscale, the company has already secured its site for ‘Photon 2’ in the Shannon Airport Industrial Estate.

Mbryonics claims this site will have the potential to produce 5,000 units every year in an award-winning 40,000 sq foot research and development facility to be used for advanced manufacturing.

In a statement to Clare FM, the Shannon Airport Group says its pleased to confirm “leading technology firm Mbryonics has leased Block R in the Shannon Airport Business Park and that it looks forward to welcoming them into our community of pioneering companies in the coming years.”
