World Champion Boxer Has Ennis Bridge Named After Him

An Ennis bridge has been named after a legendary Clare world champion boxer.

Mike McTigue, who hailed from Kilnamona, became the Light Heavyweight Champion of the World in 1923, beating the Senegalese fighter Battling Siki in Dublin.

A century on from the famous victory, the bridge formerly known as Victoria Bridge, was officially renamed.
