Works are getting underway on a flagship project which looks to open up the Old West Clare Railway to cyclists.

The 40 kilometre route is being transformed into a Greenway, which will be walking and cycling route from Ennis to Lahinch
The project is made up of four phases, the first of which is a 4.5km route from Wood Quay Car Park in Ennis to Ballymaquiggan via the Lees Road Sports Ground in Drumcliffe.
The Minister for Transport confirmed that construction will begin on contracts one and two of phase one at the end of June, new which has been welcomed by Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey
