The Ennis Municipal District has confirmed that sufficient resources have been put in place to extend the area of the River Fergus Greenway.
Last August, an allocation of €50,000 was granted under the Outdoor Recreation Scheme, to examine the possibility of expanding the trail from the Quin road in Ennis to Clareabbey roundabout onto Clarecastle Quay.
Responding to a query from Clarecastle based Councillor, Paul Murphy on the matter, Senior Executive Engineer, Patrick Tierney confirmed that tender documents are being prepared to appoint the appropriate contractors and consultants to complete a feasibility study of the new route.
Fine Gael Councillor, Murphy says its vital the success of the current amenity is built on for the benefit of all generations.
