Volunteers throughout county Clare are being praised today after the county’s impressive showing in the National Tidy Town’s competition.
32 Clare communities submitted entries this year – 7 were new-time entrants while all of the other 25 improved on their showings in 2010.

Five communities came in for special praise from the judges – Bridgetown won an Endeavour Award, Mountshannon a silver medal while three communities – Ennis, Ballynacally and Kilrush all received gold medals.
Mayor of Kilrush Councillor Ian Lynch says they’re delighted with the honour.
