The Minister of Education has confirmed that work on the amalgamation of secondary schools in Ennistymon is expected to begin by the second quarter of this year.
Responding to a parliamentary question from Clare Fianna Fail TD Cathal Crowe, Minister Norma Foley says the project is at an advanced stage of the tendering process and a preferred bidder has been identified.
The plan will see the existing schools of Ennistymon CBS, Ennistymon Vocational School and Scoil Mhuire come under one umbrella in a new three-storey building.
Local Councillor Shane Talty says the project moving a step closer will be welcome news for both parents and students in North Clare.
