Clare County Council has confirmed work has got underway on the Killaloe bypass project.
The works, which will see a new bridge joining the town to Ballina to divert from the 18th century bridge currently used, will cost already 60 million euro and will take three years to complete.

The commencement has been welcomed across political circles, including by former Labour leader and Government Minister Alan Kelly.
Senior Engineer with Clare County Council, Sean Lenihan, says he’s confident ongoing inflation in the construction sector won’t impact the project after Government intervention earlier this year.
