The HSE has confirmed that work has begun on a new ward extension to Raheen Community Hospital in Tuamgraney.
The upgrade will provide HIQA compliant accommodation to 7 residents in the existing Community Nursing Unit at the facility.

The works, which will cost in the region of two million euro, are expected to take around 12 months to complete.
Scariff-based Independent TD Michael McNamara says the ward extension is badly needed.
