Winter Vomiting Bug Outbreak At Ennis General

Staff at Ennis General are under increased pressure this afternoon due to overcrowding, coupled with an outbreak of the Winter Vomitting Bug.

The HSE is urging as many people as possible to stay away from Clare’s County Hospital and instead attend their GP.

There are currently five people on trollies and chairs awaiting admission to Ennis General this afternoon as the hospital wards have reached full capacity.

In a statement to Clare Fm – The HSE is urging people to stay away if possible – unless in extreme emergencies and instead attend their local GP.

Bed capacity has also been hit by an outbreak of the norovirus as a number of patients has to be isolated.

Staff are dealing with five confirmed cases of the virus and one suspected case.

Hospital managment is warning that visting to his area is not being allowed due to the risk of the bug spearding to the other wards and members of public are asked to please check with staff before entering Ennis General.
