Met Éireann has now issued its lowest level status yellow wind alert for Clare and much of Ireland, as southerly winds veering westerly today are expected to reach gale force in exposed areas, especially near exposed coasts.

Tonight, winds will strengthen further, and gusts will reach up to 110 km/hr, strongest values in exposed western parts.

Even stronger winds are predicted for the North West – a status ‘orange’ lert has been issued for Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.
