Willie Clancy see business boost by up to a third

Businesses in West Clare say the Willie Clancy Summer School is providing a much needed economic boost , accounting for a 3rd of their annual income.

The festival which got underway last Saturday has also been helped by the mini heatwave currently being experienced in Ireland with visitors flocking to the county’s coastal spots.

While Scoil Samhraidh is staged in Miltown Malbay there has been a huge spin off for the hospitality trade in the surrounding towns and villages such as Doonbeg, Mullagh, Quilty and Liscannor.

Maureen Kilduff of the Giftshop in Miltown says its a vital source of income for a great number of people.
