The Wild Atlantic Way driving route stretches along the Atlantic coast from Donegal to West Cork, and includes 16 of the Banner's coastal areas and two signature sites, namely the Cliffs of Moher and Loop Head.

However, work is continuing on a portion of the road at Kilbaha, following on from the recent storms, but Cillian Murphy of Loop Head Tourism is hopeful the initiative will benefit the local economy.

Meanwhile, as part of the Wild Atlantic Way, almost 100 thousand euro in funding has been announced for new signage in parts of the burren.

Information boards will be posted in villages, as well as 'distinctive' name boards, while new signs will also be erected for the Black Head Coast Road, as well as along the N67 from Kinvara to Lisdoonvarna via Ballyvaughan.

In all, 96,000  Euro will be spent on the work.
