Wife Of Clare Man Killed In 2019 Plane Crash Says Ongoing Fight For Justice Is ‘Gut Wrenching’

The widow of a Clare man killed in a plane crash three years ago says her continued fight for justice for her late husband is proving ‘gut wrenching’.

Lahinch native Míchéal ‘Mick’ Ryan was travelling from Addis Ababa to Nairobi in March 2019 when, several minutes after take-off, the Boeing 737 Max Aircraft crashed, killing all 157 people on-board.

A US federal judge has ruled the deaths of those passengers, as well as those on another 2018 flight that crashed in Indonesia, were the direct result of criminal behaviour on the part of the Boeing corporation.

However, Naoise Ryan says a recent meeting with the US Department of Justice has proved a ‘box ticking exercise’.

She insists she will continue to fight in her late husband’s memory.
