Homes and Businesses in the East of the county are set to be without water for the remainder of the day due to a burst mains on the network.
Uisce Éireann is working to restore normal water supply following the fault at the O’Briensbridge Water Treatment Plant.
Dedicated water service crews are currently on site and consumers in O’Briensbridge, Montpellier, Bridgetown and surrounding areas may experience low water pressure and water outages for the rest of the day.
Impacted customers will be able to avail of additional water supplies from tankers at the Community Centre in Montpellier, Cooneys Bar in Bridgetown and beside the playground in O’Briensbridge from 4pm this afternoon.
Under HSE guidleines, customers are advised to bring their own containers and to boil water before consumption.
Darragh Conneely, Water Operations Lead with Uisce Éireann, says: “We thank impacted customers for their patience as we work to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible and it is likely to be tomorrow (Friday) before normal water supply is restored to all customers. We are appealing to customers to help conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible. Further information on water conservation is available on our website at www.water/conserve. We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on customers and we appreciate their patience as we work to return normal water supply.”
