A Wicklow farmer with Parkinson’s syndrome has been granted bail after winning an appeal against his conviction for the murder of his older brother.

Cecil Tomkins admitted shooting 66 year old Walter Tomkins at the home the two bachelors shared in Cronlea, Shillelagh on July 1st, 2010 in a row over their mother’s burial.
He will now face a retrial.
In the meantime the Central Criminal Court has granted bail to the severely disabled 63 year old who is a wheelchair user.
He will return to the care of a nursing home in Rathfarnham, Dublin where he lived before his trial.
