White House Comments On Shannon – US Flights Welcomed

An Ireland South MEP has welcomed comments by the White House in support of a new transatlantic service out of Shannon.

White House Spokesperson Sean Spicer has indicated that President Trump’s administration looks favourably on Norwegian Air’s application to operate the low cost service between the midwest Airport and Cork and the US east coast.

Th airline was granted a licence in December, and the 61-day ‘cooling-off period’, which would allow the Trump administration to overturn the decision has now ended.

The service is due to come on stream in the summer and Deirdre Clune, who is a member of the EU Transport Committee is hopeful that remains on track.
