An organisation based in West Clare is urging the public to help it to prevent the deaths of marine life along the county’s coast.
Volunteers from the Kilrush-headquartered Irish Whale and Dolphin Group successfully re-floated eight dolphins in Ballyvaughan on Sunday after they swam into a dropping tide.
It followed a similar incident on December 22nd when 28 found themselves in the same situation, with 21 assisted in returning to the ocean.
The IWDG’s emergency number for stranded live animals is 097 28118, and its Live Stranding Coordinator Gemma O’Connor says no one without the proper training should try to help a whale or dolphin.
