A former Chief Superintendent for the Clare Garda Division has welcomed the appointment of a West Clare native as Deputy Garda Commissioner, saying she will be well aware of significant issues facing both rural and urban Ireland.
Anne Marie McMahon, who hails from Kilmurry McMahon, was appointed yesterday to the role by Minister For Justice Helen McEntee.
She previously served in a number of senior roles in the force in Limerick, having been Assistant Commissioner in the Southern Region from 2016 to 2020.
Retired Chief Superintendent John Kerin believes it’s a good appointment.
