A West Clare motorist has been penalised for driving with four defective tyres this afternoon.
Clare’s Road’s Policing Unit stopped a vehicle in Kilrush today, where the best tyre had a tread depth of 0.6mm, a full milimetre below the road legal standard.

The offence carries two penalty points and an €80 fine, and in this case the motorist was fined €320 , while also having points added to their licence.
