West Clare Gardaí Urge Businesses To Be On Look Out After Money Stolen From Remote Home

Clare’s Crime Prevention Officer is urging businesses and residents to be on the look out after a property in a remote area of West Clare was targeted by thieves.

The residents of a house in the Moanmore area of Kilrush returned around 7 o’clock last Thursday evening to find their home had been entered during the course of the day and it’s believed the perpetrators may have been in the property for some time.

A number of items were taken, including a sum of cash and Gardaí say transport would have been required by the thieves involved.

Clare’s Crime Prevention Officer, Sergeant Catriona Holohan has issued an appeal to members of the community who have any information to come forward.

“Kilrush Gardaí are appealing to anyone that was in the Moanmore area of Kilrush on Thursday, the 9th October between 9am and 7pm. Did you witness anyone or any vehicle in the area that was out of place or suspicious.

“During this burglary, a sum of money was stolen and Gardaí are appealing to commercial premises and financial institutions in County Clare to be extra vigilant.

“If anyone attempts to make a purchase or a payment with a €500 note, or maybe you remember someone trying to tender a €500, if so please contact Kilrush Garda Station on 065 9080550,” Sergeant Holohan concluded.
