Gardaí have seized a large quantity of fireworks in West Clare in the run up to Halloween.
As part of operation Tombola, gardaí carried out a search of a house in the Kilrush area on Monday last week, during which the illegal objects were discovered.
A man in his early thirties was questioned in relation to the seizure and a file being sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions, while the fireworks are being forwarded to the Ballistics Section.
It’s prompted a fresh warning from Clare’s Crime Prevention Officer that it’s an offence to possess a firework with intent to sell or supply without a licence, the penalty for which is a fine of up to 10,000 euro or 5 years in jail.
