A West Clare doctor is expected to be announced as the county's fourteenth candidate in the upcoming general election.

As part of the No Doctor No Village Campaign, GPs will announce their candidate for the Clare constituency at a meeting in Corofin this evening.
Hundreds of people have attended two meetings at the local parish hall over recent weeks, where calls were made for the re-instatement of key supports for rural doctors.
Dr Michael Harty, a long-established doctor in Kilmihil and a member of the Irish Medical Organisation is expected to be selected as the GP candidate tonight.
