A West Clare Councillor claims Ireland’s response to the humanitarian issues caused by the conflict in Ukraine has not moved ‘beyond a crisis response’.
It’s after new analysis from the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation warned the industry will suffer ‘significant damage’ if the current situation of accommodating refugees in hotels in large numbers continues into next year.
More than 3,500 Ukrainian refugees are now in Clare, a number that’s risen by 10 percent since the end of September.
Kilkee-based Fianna Fail Councillor Cillian Murphy says medium to long term thinking is now needed at both local and national level.
