A West Clare Councillor believes a full review of the public liability compensation system is needed.
It follows figures revealed to Clare FM which show €8.7 million has been paid out by Clare County Council in insurance claims since 2016.

The majority of claims costing the Council money are public liability-related, which accounted for 71 of last year’s 95 separate claims and 86 percent of the total payouts over the last number of years.
Speaking with Clare FM’s Josh Prenderville, Lissycasey-based Fianna Fail Councillor PJ Kelly says it has a ‘huge’ impact on the Council’s overall budget.
