Orange Thunderstorm Alert Remains In Place For Clare

An orange weather warning for thunderstorm activity remains in place for Clare this morning.

Met Éireann is forecasting heavy downpours of rain and hail in places, with flooding where these bursts occur.

Thousands of homes and businesses are without power this morning following the storm weather overnight, though Clare appears to have escaped unscathed.

The largest power failure was in Castlecomer, County Kilkenny . where 5,000 customers lost power at 5 am this morning, with power restored by 6.30 am.

While in Limerick, an outage is impacting 12 hundred customers in Ahane.

 

A mid-level warning for the entire country has just ended, however the alert remains in place for Munster and parts of South Leinster until 10pm tonight.

Met Éireann Forecaster, Emer Flood says today will also be cooler compared to the last five days.
