Clare Motorists Urged To Slow Down On Morning Commute As Temps Drop To -8.5 In Parts Of Clare

Clare motorists are being reminded to slow down on their commute this morning, as the county wakes up to severe frost and ice.

Temperatures dropped to minus 8.5 in Tulla overnight, with Met Éireann saying the lowest temperature recorded in the country was -8.8 in Milstreet in Cork.

A low of minus 8.1 degrees was recorded in Athenry in Galway, and it dipped to minus 7.6 degrees in Gurteen, Co Tipperary.

A status orange low temperature warning is in place for Clare from 6 o’clock again this evening until noon tomorrow.

The Road Safety Authority is reminding drivers to take extra care and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front.
