The company which has been granted permission to carry out a foreshore license for a wave energy project off the Clare coast says the site has the potential to make it a key player in the electricity market.

Carnegie Wave Energy is to carry out investigative works at a site between Freagh Point and Spanish Point, beginning before the end of the year.
It’s hoped that this will eventually lead to a significant power generating facility, which the company hopes would be up and running by 2016.
