Stranded Cruiser Rescued By Lough Derg RNLI

A person has been rescued by Lough Derg RNLI volunteers after their boat ran aground at the mouth of the Scarriff River.

The crew was called at around 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon to assist the adult, who was aboard a 37ft cruiser which had been pushed close to the shore by the wind and raised high out of the water.

The lifeboat crew assessed the hull of the stranded vessel for damage before towing it safely back into the water, where it was able to continue its passage.

It follows a separate incident on Lough Derg earlier in the day, where three people and their family pet were rescued by the Killaloe Coast Guard after their cruiser was blown onto the Clare shore of the lake.
