It’s hoped even more of Clare’s beaches might be awarded Blue Flag status in the coming years.
The prestigious flag has been retained at nine beaches in the county – at Spanish Point, Lahinch, Kilkee, Fanore, Whitestrand Doonbeg, Whitestrand Miltown Malbay, Ballycuggaran, Cappa Pier and Mountshannon.
In addition, Ballyalla Lake, Bishops Quarter and Seafield have held on to their Green Coast status.
