Waste And Litter Complaints In Clare Up 30% In First Three Months Of 2025

The number of waste and litter complaints made in Clare in the first three months of the year is up by almost 30%.

Data released by Clare County Council shows over 300 complaints of this nature have been made since the beginning of 2025, with illegal dumping being the area of greatest concern.

From January to March, the local authority’s Waste Enforcement Team received 328 complaints in relation to the illicit disposal of waste.

Illegal dumping accounted for over 70% of these with 235 complaints of this type logged.

A total of 25 complaints have been made in Clare relating to litter while 13 were concerning dog fouling and three involved waste presentation.

In the first quarter of 2024, 257 waste and litter complaints were received by the local authority, indicating a year-on-year rise of 28%.

In March of this year alone, a total of 113 complaints were made, pointing to an 18% increase on the 96 submitted in the same month last year.
