The UL Hospitals Group is warning of long delays in the Emergency Department at the region's main hospital.
University Hospital Limerick has been experiencing a high number of patients attending the ED over a number of days, which has resulted in excessive wait times for patients.
People are reminded to keep the ED for emergencies only and to contact their GP or GP Out of Hours services in the first instance.
Patients with minor injuries are encouraged to attend the Injury Unit at Ennis General Hospital, which is open from 8am to 8pm seven days a week.
