East Clare’s own War of Independence history is to be commemorated this Easter Sunday.
Members of the East Clare Old IRA Brigade and Cumann na mBan will be remembered in Tuamgraney and Scarriff on Sunday morning.

A mass will be held in Tuamgraney at 9.30am, after which a wreath will be laid in Tuamgraney Memorial Park and this will be followed by a separate wreath laying ceremony in Scarriff.
Fianna Fáil Maghera Councillor Pat Hayes is a member of the East Clare Memorial Committee and says it’s important to reflect on our past.
