Wallace to make statement this evening on tax affairs

The Independent TD Mick Wallace is to make a statment to Dail this evening on his tax affairs.

The Government chief whip, Paul Kehoe, has confirmed that the Government has decided to allocate fifteen minutes to Deputy Wallace – at about 5.45pm.

Mr Wallace is expected to give detail of his 2.1 million euro settlement with the Revenue Commissioners after he had made a false VAT declaration.

Mewnhile a Dail committee on standards is continuing to investigate his conduct – and a motion of censure may still be proposed depending on the findings of the committee.
