Figures released by the National Treatment Purchase Fund show more patients are waiting for longer to be seen at University Hospital Limerick, even though queues in Ennis are getting shorter.

Figures released by the NTPF show that the number of patients waiting at least 18 months for inpatient or outpatient appointments has increased to a total of nearly 25,000.

Here, that increasing trend can be seen at University Hospital Limerick.

In the past six months, there has been an increase of 850 people waiting to be seen as an outpatient.

Here, patients who are waiting to see eye or ear, nose and throat specialists are the most likely to be waiting for at least a year and a half.

The numbers waiting at least a year for inpatient or day care has nearly doubled between March and September, and now stands at 218.

Again, people seeking treatment for their eyesight are the most likely to have long waiting times.

At Ennis General there has been a general downward trent in waiting lists for both inpatient and outpatient appointments in the same six-month timeframe.
