HSE Midwest says restrictions on visitors to nursing homes are essential for the safety of residents.

Visiting has resumed at nursing homes across the country but only by appointment – in at least one instance at a Clare nursing home, visitors were turned away last evening when they showed up unannounced.

Residents are limited to two main visitors who must be temperature checked before entering, and only one of them can be present at any one time.
