Strict visiting restrictions remain in place at the region's main hospital following an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.

It comes as two patients were confirmed with norovius at University Hospital Limerick yesterday, with a further three patients symptomatic.

In addition, a number of staff are on sick leave reporting with gastrointestinal symptoms.

Patients have been isolated , while a number of beds have been closed as part of infection control measures, which has impacted on the level of overcrowding at the emergency department in recent days.
