Virgin flight makes emergency landing at Shannon

More than 300 airline  passengers will  be spending  the night in hotels in Clare and Limerick after their flight diverted to Shannon with a mechanical problem this morning

The flight  was en route from Orlando to Manchester when it was forced to make an unscheduled landing at the mid west airport.

Virgin Atlantic Airways flight 76 landed at Shannon shorlty after 8 this morning having reported a technical issue while making it was from Florida to Manchester.

Emergency crews were alerted as a precaution but the flight landed safely at the midwest airport with no injuries reported

Passengers had expected to continue their journey after the issue had been resolved however shortly after 10am, all 330 passengers were taken by bus to hotels in Ennis and Limerick.

The airline is sending engineers from the UK to carry out repairs and the flight is expected to complete it’s journey in the morning.
