The US Military sought permission to transport five warhead rockets through Shannon Airport this year.
The Irish Independent reports that the application was among 16 permits refused by the Department of Transport.

Permission was also refused for explosives and bombs to be transported through Irish airspace while en route from the US to Germany and the United Arab Emirates.
377 exemptions for munitions of war, weapons or dangerous goods have been allowed this year, while over 22,000 troops passed through Shannon between January and May.
