US foil airplane bomb attack

An Al-Qaeda plot to blow up a US-bound plane has been foiled by the CIA.

The FBI said investigators are examining the device – and say it appeared to be a revamped model of the so-called ‘underwear bomb’ used in a failed attack over Detroit in 2009.
 
They say the explosive was non-metallic and undetectable.
