University Hospital Galway says a shortage of staff is adding to issues at its Emergency Department.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation reported 34 people on trolleys there yesterday, while there were said to be 38 people in a similar situation on Monday.
The Hospital says the A&E has been exceptionally busy of late and its accepts a new unit is required.
Work is said to be underway on an application for funding to construct a new facility.
