University Governance Investigation Raises ‘Grave Concerns’, Says UL President

The new President of the University Of Limerick says an investigation into governance at Irish universities raises “grave concerns”.

Dr Des Fitzgerald has issued a statement in light of a Prime Time Investigates programme last evening.

He’s already called for a “thorough, prompt” and “independent” review, and has taken a series of actions to address governance failures at UL.

In his statement, Dr Fitzgerald has called for the issues raised to be resolved urgently, saying he’s concerned that that UL would have been anything less than transparent.

Dr Fitzgerald says he intends to ensure the university’s full cooperation with the Public Accounts Committee.
