Union Claims Ryanair Staff ‘In Shock’ At Shannon Decision

The Forsa trade union claims Ryanair did not allow for proper engagement with employees before the airline made the decision to close its Shannon winter base.

55 staff, including pilots and crew, will be temporarily laid off as a result of the decision.

Ryanair had warned that it would close its Shannon and Cork base if the Government didn’t sign up to the EU Traffic Light System for safe travel.

Despite confirmation Ireland will adopt the system, the airline pushed ahead with the move.

Forsa Assistant General Secretary, Ian McDonnell claims the lack of consultation has left the staff concerned in shock.
