She felt ill over the weekend and passed away in UHL on Monday.

It’s understood she spent a considerable amount of time on a trolley in the Dooradoyle facility.

Public health officials in the region are already investigating the case, and have stated the risk to the general public is ‘low’.

The UL Hospitals Group has now told Clare FM it’s convened a Serious Incident Management Team following Aoife’s passing.

They say a ‘comprehensive investigation’ into the circumstances surrounding her death will now take place.

The Group says it extends its sincere condolences to Aoife’s family following what they describe as their ‘devastating loss’.
