The UL Hospitals Group says it is putting contingency plans in place for the weekend and next week, as a result of a serious ransomware attack on HSE IT systems.

Long delays are expected for patients attending services across Group’s six hospitals in Clare, Limerick and Tipperary today, with people advised to attend, unless they are directly contacted by the hospital.

Emergency services and unscheduled care is continuing, including in the Emergency Department in Dooradoyle, though people are being asked not to pressent there unless it’s an emergency.

UL Hospitals Group Chief Operations Officer Noreen Spillane says they do not expect the issue to be resolved in the short term.
